What is the best way to lay parquet?

Do-it-yourself enthusiasts should know that there are recommendations for selecting parquet and three methods of installation:

  • Glue method. Parquet boards are glued to the laying surface. This means that the laying surface must be perfectly prepared in advance: it must have the same thickness, be perfectly smooth and clean and, above all, free from moisture.
  • Nailing. It is used with one-piece wooden boards or multi-layered ones. Wood is nailed with screws or nails inserted at an angle of 45°.
  • Floating method. This is probably the "most natural" method. First of all, it is necessary to prepare the surface for laying by covering it with a sound-insulating layer, for example, a cork panel. When laying the boards, do not forget to leave at least 1 cm of free space around the perimeter so that the floor can settle as best as possible. Finally, you will need to fit the boards together before placing them on the stacking surface.
