The street is located in the Pechersk district of Kyiv and has a total length of 1,8 km. It stretches from Druzhba Narodov Boulevard and Bastionnaya Street to Saperno-Slobidska.
From the beginning of the 20th century, it was called the Military road - from the sapper camps located along it. It was also known as the Ostrovetyan highway, as evidenced by references in 1944. In 1957, it was renamed in honor of the Soviet military figure V. S. Kikvidze, and in 2016 - in honor of the Ukrainian artist Mykhailo Boychuk.
